About the Wedding Party

We have assembled short bios of the members of the wedding party here for your perusal. Though more detailed stories from each of these individuals can be found on the stories page, this is the best place to find all the information—the couple, the bridesmaids, and the groomsmen—in one location.

  The Bride

  

  Rebecca Ruth Rosenberger was born in Bossier City, LA to Randy and Debbie Rosenberger. Rebecca attended Temple High School, where she began dating Jason in 2003. In 2004, she and Jason graduated from high school and continued to college together at the University of Texas at Austin.

  Rebecca is currently majoring in Biomedical Engineering and will graduate in May 2009. She presently lives in Austin, TX, where she misses her fiancé very much. Lately, Rebecca has been spending her days being interviewed by various medical schools around the nation. Rebecca is currently 23.

  Jason Matthew Petersen was born in Temple, TX to William and Janet Petersen. Jason attended Temple High School, where he first asked Rebecca on a date in 2003. From there, Jason continued to the University of Texas at Austin, where he planned to double major in Mathematics and Computer Science. A very lucrative offer from amazon.com caused Jason to reconsider this plan, and he graduated in May 2008 with a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science.

  Jason can be found in Seattle, WA, where he works for his new employer in-between bouts of missing his fiancée dearly. Jason is 23.

  Candis Massingill is in her fifth year at UT Austin where she has been Rebecca’s roommate since 2005. Like Rebecca, Candis is studying Biomedical Engineering and presently finds herself very busy with the program’s Senior Design curriculum.

  In the coming months, Candis plans to apply to pharmacy school, but in the meantime occupies herself by serving as Rebecca’s chief wedding consultant in Jason’s absence. Candis is currently 23.

  Hana Ripperger-Suhler

  

  Hana graduated as salutatorian from Temple High School with Jason, Rebecca, & Kara in 2004. After attending Pomona College in Claremont, CA, Hana took a job in documentary film.

  She currently resides in Los Angeles and is 23 years old.

  Kara Hicks

  

  Kara and Rebecca first met when they were two years old and have been friends ever since. Like the bride & groom, Kara also attended the University of Texas at Austin (Hook ’em Horns!) and Temple High School (um, go Wildcats?).

  Upon graduation from UT, Kara accepted a critical care nursing internship at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, TX. It keeps her busy, but she still finds time to let Rebecca crash at her place to shop for wedding dresses and go to medical school interviews. Kara is currently 23.

  Rachael Petersen

  

  Rachael is Jason’s only sister, four years his junior–which means she’s been dealing with Jason in one way or another her entire life. In 2008, she graduated first in her class at Temple High School (with an IB diploma) and continued onwards to become a freshman at Rice University.

  Rachael is part of the Will Rice College at Rice and is currently doing undergraduate research in Political Science as a Century Scholar. Her tentative major is Anthropology and Environmental Policy. She enjoys cycling, origami, writing, and drinking inordinate amounts of coffee. Rachael first met Rebecca at the age of thirteen—it’s hard to believe she and Jason have been dating so long! Rachael is currently 19.

  Alison Humphrey

  

  After graduating high school in Burleson, TX, Alison attended TCU majoring in biology. Upon graduation in 2006, she joined UTMB’s Class of 2010. Rebecca and Alison met in 2007 through Rebecca’s brother, Eric.

  Eric and Alison have since had several rotations that have brought them to Austin where they frequently rendezvous with Rebecca. Alison is currently 25.

  Joshua Petersen is Jason’s only brother and is ten years his junior. Joshua can often be seen getting beaten by Jason at Super Smash Brothers or horse.

  He attends Bonham Middle School in Temple, TX and enjoys participating in swimming and band. His hobbies include DDR and piano. Joshua is thirteen.

  Alan Holmes

  

  Though they went to different middle schools, Jason and Alan came to know one another through orchestra, Boy Scouts, and their mutual friend Jonathan. Alan spent one year as Jason’s roommate, during which time his cheesecakes became a household favorite.

  Alan entered UT Austin in 2004 and exited this last Spring with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Alan is 22.

  Jonathan LeSage

  

  Jonathan has been attending the same schools as Jason since they were both small children. Though he moved away to Sugar Land in the middle of high school, Jonathan and Jason met again in 2004 at UT Austin.

  Jonathan received his Mechanical Engineering degree from UT in Spring 2008, and continues to study the discipline as a graduate student. In 2008, he and Alan won the prestigious Engineering Week Chili Cook off. Jonathan is 23.

  Alex Savage

  

  Alex was Jason’s roommate from Fall 2005 to Spring 2008, when each graduated from the school. Before college, he attended Del Valle High School in Austin, TX where he was very active in the debate community (a pursuit he continued at UT).

  Alex majored in Linguistics and is currently enrolled in UT Law. Alex is 23.

  Eric Rosenberger

  

  Eric is Rebecca’s only sibling and is four years her senior. In 2004, Eric received an honors degree in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin. He met Jason through Rebecca shortly after the two started dating and often meets one or both of them whenever he’s in Austin.

  He is currently enrolled in the class of 2010 at UTMB. Eric is 27.
